Playboy Launches ‘Playboy Intimates’ Lingerie In India


“India has a huge untapped market for luxury lingerie in India and we are targeting Rs 20 crore (over $4 million) in the first year of the launch.” — Theprit Srichawla, Managing Director, Kyra Mode Company.

Playboy Intimates, the renowned lingerie brand of the US-based Playboy Enterprises, was launched in India on Friday, the 26th September, 2008. A fashion show of its Pink and White collection was organised by the company in Mumbai to mark the occasion.

Playboy Enterprises has entered into a licensee agreement with the Thailand-based Kyra Mode company to launch its lingerie brand in India.

Distribution of ‘Playboy Intimates’ lingerie in India, will be done by Gamma Textile Ltd.

Playboy Enterprises, Inc. (popularly known for Playboy magazine) is a US-based international multimedia entertainment and lifestyle company operating in three business segments, namely, entertainment, publishing and licensing.

The Playboy Licensing Group grants licenses for use of the Playboy name, the Rabbit Head Design, other images, trademarks and artwork for the worldwide manufacture, sale and distribution of a multitude of consumer products.

The group works with its licensees to develop, market and distribute Playboy-branded merchandise. The range of merchandise among others include apparel and inner-wear for men and women, accessories, collectibles, cigars, watches, jewelry, fragrances, leather goods bath and body products, stationery, music, eyewear, and home fashions, among others.

Playboy has also licensed its extensive art collection, most of which was commissioned as illustrations for Playboy magazine.
